The people of China are one of the earliest people on the planet Earth, and they also have the longest traditions. About 3,500 years ago, they had some manuscripts that date from that period. The people of China were respected for a lot of things, particularly about their words of wisdom.
Here, we are going to mention the ten Chinese proverbs which are so powerful, that are even able to influence our lives, change our way of seeing things, and making us a better person.
They are the following:
“One happiness scatters a thousand sorrows.”
In fact, there is definitely more sadness in our life than there is happiness. However, happiness has some powerful effects that even just one happy moment may help us forget a lot of sad things.
“You cannot prevent the birds of sadness from passing over your head, but you can prevent them from making a nest in your hair.”
There are some things which cannot be avoided, regardless of how hard we try. However, that does not mean that we will not have the ability to get over those things. We have to learn to get through the sadness.
“He who sacrifices his conscience to ambition burns a picture to obtain the ashes.”
We can never achieve something as we are blind if we have an ambition that isn’t backed up by a conscience which is going to lead to our purpose. Conscience is the thing which helps us see things, and also everything around us. So, we should keep in mind that if we are not conscious about the path we are walking right now, we can never expect to reach our desired destination.
“An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. May you be open to each thread that comes into your life, the golden ones and coarse ones- and may you weave them into brilliant and beautiful life.”
If there is someone that we are destined to meet, we are going to meet him or her. Some of those people are going to bring sadness, while others are going to bring happiness. We should not deny any relationship that we had because even the worst one will teach us lessons about life.
“A person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.”
We don’t try hard enough, or our approach has been negative if we gave up on the things. So, we should not let such negativities interrupt our positive efforts, even the negativity which comes from other people.
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”
It is not important how fast we go towards our purpose, but it is important only if we are always moving. If we hurry up in things, sometimes they can bring some unwanted results or changes, so we should take our time and keep moving towards our purpose steadily and slowly.
“The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”
There is no person that can achieve greatness when trying for the first time. We can never see the failed efforts that all those successful people are obliged to go through before accomplishing their purpose. We have to do something on a daily basis, and never get tired when we see how much we can do if we would like to accomplish something excellent. We have to focus on being persistent and steady, and our devotion is going to lead us to our purpose.
“Everyone sees the violence of the swollen river. Few see the violence of the embankments that constrain it.”
We are not paying the attention needed to the source or the cause, but we just see the evident things which are lying on the surface. There may also be a greater source which is not seen on the person’s outside if the person did something wrong.
“Great winds are powerless to disturb the water of a deep well.”
We have to be genuinely happy with ourselves, and then all the storms which occur around us are never going to affect our sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance.
“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.”
We have to know who we are to achieve peace. We are going to remain anxious about everything that might occur if we are not aware of ourselves.
There is just violence and hatred around us, and there is no space for some wisdom in our minds. So, it is going to stop us from getting towards a much better world.
Chinese dragons traditionally symbolize potent and auspicious powers, particularly control over water, rainfall, typhoons, and floods. The dragon is also a symbol of power, strength, and good luck for people who are worthy of it.
