Have you been feeling an internal shift lately? Or perhaps a sense of unease or disruption? If so, you may be feeling the effects of Mars Retrograde.
What is Mars Retrograde?
Currently, we are in what is called a “Mars Retrograde” which means Mars is in the part of its cycle where it is traveling backwards from our point of view on Earth.
A retrograde period of any planet is a retrospective of that planet’s themes. It is a time of moving backward, almost like you are going to the past to pick up lost pieces. It can be a retrieval and a point of letting-go.
How long is it for?
When Mars goes retrograde it usually does for about 8 to 10 weeks. With the theme of Mars, you may experience anger or frustration - and this is a sign it’s time to take reflective action. When things are moving smoothly in our life, and we feel comfortable with them, we tend to be laissez faire.
Retrograde planets create confusion with their external nature. This confusion causes us to hesitate and reflect. This reflection is a powerful catalyst for understanding the inner, deeper nature of the life lessons related to that planet. In the Eastern/Vedic sense, we are not necessarily here to be happy all the time.
Happiness is a big part of life, but we are here to learn the truth about who we really are too. A retrograde planet is meant to be strong in delivering that lesson to us so our mind can comprehend how this plays out.
How Mars Retrograde impacts your dreams.
Dreams may be more powerful during Mars Retrograde. It can even cause us to have less sleep, disrupted sleep, or dreams that really confuse us.
Here are some types of dreams that may arise during this time:
- Nightmares...
- Dreams about your past...your dreams may have people from your past or they may feature old arguments. That’s because of the time for reflection. This is actually when you’re supposed to think about the past instead of the future.
- Stress dreams...if something is causing you underlying stress, it may come up here.
- Plain weird dreams. Bizzare and out of place dreams, this is a bizarre time as well!
- You may also experience more false awakenings, where you wake up from one dream only to find you’re in another. These dreams are confusing and strange, which is typical of Mars Retrograde.
If you wake up and do remember your dreams, some questions you can ask yourself at that time are:
- What can I not see that is preventing me from ____?
- What needs resolving for me to move forward with ____?
- What needs fixing in my life or relationship or environment?
- Is there anyone I should be in contact with again?
- Is there a place, an idea or scenario I need to revisit?
And of course keep a dream journal. Have your journal handy by your bed during this retrograde and see what dreams pour out of your mind as you write.
