Back To The Basics

Feeling out of sync? Keep your Chakras in check!

According to the ancient scriptures of India, chakras are energy wheels located within our bodies; they starts at the top of the head and ends at the bottom of the spine. They are said to be involved with healing, vitality and our emotional well-being. So when things start going south, it’s time to reclaim that balance. One of the most popular methods ancients did this was by using gemstones.

What are gemstones?

Gemstones are tools that are primarily used to channel, convert or dispel energies and can also be used for rituals and healing. The Ancients have long discovered the benefits of using crystals. In fact, their origin can be traced back to around 60,000 BC in Russia.

Since then, there’s been a significant history of how these crystals are being used:

  •         30,000 years ago, they were used as Amulets as proven by the beads and bracelets that   have been excavated form Paleolithic grave sites over time.
  •         Ancient Sumerians used crystals in magic formulas.
  •         Egyptians used them as cosmetics (kohl) and as a way to support vitality and health.
  •         Greeks used specific types of crystals as amulets to protect themselves for war or a long voyage.

These days, using crystals have been steadily gaining popularity amongst its enthusiasts; businessmen, even celebrities have discovered its powers.

Gemstones and the Chakras

The wide selection of gemstones can leave one feeling overwhelmed, so here’s a simple list that can help you decide which ones to pick depending on which chakra you’re working on:

Amethyst-this stone is known to balance the Crown Chakra, and helps develop intuition and a sense of knowing.  A well-developed Crown Chakra enhances one’s moral compass, thus they become self-motivated and regulated. You definitely won’t need to hold them at gunpoint for them to behave.

Blue Lapis Lazuli-this stone is connected to the Throat Chakra, it is a supportive stone that helps give you the courage and commitment to overcome personal traumas and helps you express yourself.  Let your voice be heard.

Green Aventurine-is a stone that balances the Heart Chakra. It promotes compassion, empathy and dissolves negative emotions and thoughts. Dig deep, the heart hears what the mouth is incapable of saying.

Yellow Jasper-balances the Solar Plexus Chakra, it is associated with the healing powers of the sun which helps protect, heal and uplift our mood. We all got to shake those blues away.

Orange Aventurine- Orange Aventurine is also known as a good luck stone that unlocks great possibilities and helps manifest joy, success, optimism and vitality. It is associated with the Sacral Chakra which inspires creativity and imagination. It’s time to get those creative juices flowing.

Red Jasper-is associated to the Root Chakra, this stone helps increase our Chi energy which helps stabilize our physical and emotional well-being. It is especially helpful during stressful situations as it can absorb the negative energy around us. We won’t let stress rule our lives, would we?

Clear Quartz-connected to the Third Eye Chakra and Crown Chakra, this stone is said to stimulate the immune system which can help us achieve a greater state of health. This stone helps us see beyond what is set in front of us that can help us achieve a higher consciousness; some things are more than what meets the eye.

It’s a challenging world out there so as explorers, it’s time to reclaim our footing and find our balance. Let’s go back to basics and equip ourselves with decades of ancient wisdom to guide us along the way.
