How to do it:

  1. Sit or lie down. Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly.
  2. Breathe in through your nose. Direct the breath downward so that your belly rises. The hand on your chest should stay relatively still.
  3. Breathe out through your nose. Let the belly fall.
  4. Repeat for five minutes.

Practice 2: Extended exhale breathing

  5. Repeat for five to ten rounds.

If the holds feel uncomfortable, reduce to 3 counts across all four phases. The symmetry is what matters.

Increasing breath holds
