Traditionally, Ayurvedic thailams are used in many different ways, but most commonly used externally. Application of thailam is moistening, soothing and lubricating to the body. Dhanwantharam Sevyam is formulated using a process called Avarthanam. The Dhanwantharam Thailam being named after the patron deity of Ayurveda, Lord Dhawantari, reflects the immense potency of this formulation passed down to generations through centuries. Dhanwantari is the Indian god of medicine and considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is mentioned in the ancient texts (Puranas) as the God of Ayurveda and symbolically described as the one who rose during the churning of the mythological Ocean of Milk (Samudramantham) with the nectar of immortality (Amrutham). In Traditional Indian Healthcare system Ayurveda, Dhanwantaram thailam has been used to improve the natural flexibility of the body.
