Acharya Charaka also mentions it to be bulk promoting (brimhaniya), strength providing (balya), and a (mamsa dhathu). In addition, Bala has been mentioned in the Vedas as rejuvenator (rasayana), anti-toxic (Visaghna), strengthening (balya). Being a rejuvenator, it has been used for hundreds of years to help support musculoskeletal health. Ayurveda has documented several Thailam preparations with varying combinations of herbs to work specifically according to the ailment and Dosha imbalance. Bala Thailam, a widely used herbal oil, contains Bala as the key ingredient.
